If you’re the kind of person who always likes to be on-trend, you’ll no doubt have been watching as fashion houses, magazines and bloggers make their trend predictions for the coming 12 months.
Now, Elle magazine has highlighted its top five things to watch in the fashion world, or suggestions to add to your wardrobe for the coming year.
Top of the list is stripes, which will continue to be popular despite having featured in collections for the past two or three seasons.
Another trend to watch out for is artistically inspired garments. Kate Foley, contributing fashion director of Vestiaire Collective told the publication that numerous designers have picked up on this trend for 2017.
“Whether directly inspired by a particular artist’s work, painterly prints or patterns, strong art references will be here to stay in 2017,” she stated.
If you have a love of art, or indeed feel as though your wardrobe would benefit from an injection of creativity, having a custom T-shirt of one of your favourite pieces printed could mean you’re on trend and have a unique garment for your wardrobe.
Meanwhile, Elle revealed that classic clean trainers, skinny jeans and corsets are among the fashion trends that will be out of favour next year.
Earlier this month, Forbes picked out some top trends to come off the runway, which are expected to feature in fashion stores later this year. They included a resurgence of flared trousers, mid-calf length skirts and fur, with some designers moving away from its soft, natural look and adding vibrant colours and even embroidering it to give it a bold appearance.
